Dual study programme at Scheidt - optimally combining theory and practice
Insights from Til Kühnel, dual student in the 2nd semester of electrical engineering specialising in electrical power engineering at the Cooperative State University in Bautzen and at Scheidt in Hoyerswerda.

Theory meets practice - how does the dual study programme at Scheidt work?
"I alternate between spending several weeks at the university and then back at the site in Hoyerswerda. This allows me to apply and deepen my theoretical knowledge directly in practice. During my time so far, I've already been able to gain a lot of experience in production - particularly in terms of the technology used and production and assembly processes. I am currently gaining my first insights into work preparation and getting to know the processes behind the technical processes even better."
Why choose a dual study programme?
"It was important to me to gain practical experience during my studies and to have a direct link to the world of work. A dual study programme also offers financial security. I was already fascinated by electrical engineering at school and I see a promising professional future here."
What characterises Scheidt as a company?
"Scheidt specialises in the manufacture of transformer stations and switchgear houses made of reinforced concrete as well as electrical engineering. The company has sites in Rinteln, Arnstadt and here in Hoyerswerda, where I work. I am particularly impressed by the combination of traditional craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology that is practised here. I also appreciate the excellent working environment and the friendly colleagues who support me at all times."

For Operations Manager Gerd Zimmermann, the dual study programme is very important.
