Dragan-Michael Bracht: From Technical Director to Managing Director.
What began as an emergency solution has developed into a steep career ladder for Dragan-Michael Bracht (34). He joined SCHEIDT on a one-year contract and was appointed to the management board on 1 July 2023!
It was in the summer of 2018 when Dragan-Michael Bracht applied to SCHEIDT, where they were looking for a foreman for a year. As a state-certified technician and master craftsman, Bracht was gladly hired. "I immediately realised that the management at SCHEIDT was open to me initiating and participating in projects on my own initiative," he recalls. "It was great to finally be in a company where you could help shape things." The young Managing Director Georgine Scheidt was instrumental in creating this participative culture, making SCHEIDT a more attractive employer for motivated young people.
Instead of letting Bracht's one-year contract expire, Ms Scheidt created the position of cross-plant Technical Manager, whose task would be to standardise processes, in order to keep him. Bracht happily accepted - and continued to contribute with all his extensive expertise. In 2022, he was then asked whether he wanted to join the management team. Georgine Scheidt remembers exactly how the decision to make Bracht this offer came about: "I always felt that I would only accept a 'family stranger' into the management team if I trusted him with my life and had the feeling that he was just as passionate about the cause and wanted to make a difference. Mr Bracht has all of this - and much more. We complement each other perfectly: Mr Bracht comes from a technical background and has solutions and visions for our product development. I, on the other hand, come from a business and legal background."
On 1 July 2023, Technical Director Bracht became Managing Director Bracht, who will continue to pursue the course of innovation and growth together with the other members of the management team. To date, he has already driven forward a number of technological innovations that are aimed in particular at making SCHEIDT and its products greener through decarbonisation. CO2-reduced concrete is a major topic here. "Of course, we are striving to become the market leader: with even better products, with the expansion of our new subsidiary that builds doors and ventilation grilles and - this would be my dream - with a fourth plant!" Corporate communication and cooperation with stakeholders are also important to him: "Our customers don't even know about some of our technical innovations - that has to change. I also want to support our dealers more effectively."
Big plans for the young managing director, who is keen to make an already excellent company even more innovative and agile. The company now needs a successor for the position of Technical Director so that things can move forward even more at SCHEIDT. There are also plans to set up a "Technology" department consisting of two to three experts.
